BEXLEY, Ohio (WCMH) — After a successful one year trial of using food waste recycling bins, the program has expanded to the whole city of Bexley.
The idea behind it is to educate, eliminate waste and harmful gasses to the atmosphere, and to make it simple. In Bexley, anyone who signs up to participate in the food waste recycle program will get a 5 gallon bucket and a 3 month supply of compostable bags.
Each week when you talk out your trash and recycling, you can take out your compost bucket to be picked up as well. Just place the compost bucket on the other side of the sidewalk.
On each bucket is a list of things that can and cannot go into the compost. From your driveway, the bags of compost are then taken to a plant where they can be turned into supplements for your garden in about 3 months.
