MATTOON — Disposal of computers and related equipment, TVs and more will be available for Coles County residents on Saturday, April 27.
An electronics recycling event is scheduled starting at 8 a.m. that day at Lake Land College, according to a news release from the Coles County Regional Planning and Development Commission.
Proof of county residency will be required in order to dispose of items during the event, the news release said. It said the event will continue until 1 p.m. or until the trucks that will haul the items are full.
Participants should enter at the southernmost entrance to the college on U.S. Route 45, near the college’s police station.
The release said a variety of electronics can be taken to the recycling event.

Those include TVs and computer monitors, but there will be a $5 charge for each item and a limit of 10, it said.
Otherwise, there will be no charge to dispose of the items, which also include printers, fax machines, scanners, DVD players and recorders, VCRs, video game consoles, keyboards, various receivers, servers and digital music players.
Items that will not be accepted include appliances such as refrigerators. A more complete list of acceptable and unacceptable items can be seen on the county commission’s website at www.co.coles.il.us/CCRPDC/newsroom.html.
