Family start Nuneaton’s first crisp packet recycling scheme – from their own home

Nuneaton’s first crisp wrapper recycling facility is now available – from the driveway of a family’s home.

Shocked that the town nor anywhere near offers such recycling, Kebrina Barker decided to take the matter into her own hands.

She spoke to her husband Warren and now the couple have two bins on the driveway of their home in Atholl Crescent to collect recycling.

“I saw an advert about Walkers crisp packet recycling and decided to do a bit of Googling,” she explained.

“I read about Terracycle and saw that there is nowhere around here that offers it and thought ‘well, someone has got to get it started’ so I roped my husband into it.”

In the bins, people can put crisp packets, Pringles cans, dental waste, such as tooth brushes and toothpaste packaging.

“I hope that people get behind it and support it,” said Mrs Barker, runs Rina Bee Jewellery.

Once recycling has been collected, she simply puts it in a parcel and sends it off to Terracycle, who then recycle it.

“I want to get the message out there that things you might think can’t be recycled, can.

“All this waste is recyclable but not accepted by kerbside collections.”

Anyone who would like to drop off recycling can do so by putting it in the bins outside 45 Atholl Crescent.
