OUR HEADS FOR YEARS. WHY THROW AWAY THINGS WHICH MIGHT HAVE ANOTHER, VALUABLE USE? WELL AS WESH 2’S DAVE MCDANIEL EXPLAINS, TRYING TO RECYCLE TOO TOO MUCH CAN GET IN THE WAY OF RECYCLING ITSELF. DAVE: SORTING RECYCLABLES MATERIALS, WE ALL HOPE ARE RECYCLED HAVE TO BE SORTED FIRST. WHEN WE FOLLOW RECYCLING RUL WITH PLASTIC — >> VERY OFTEN IT’S TURNED INTO THINGS LIKE PLASTIC LUMBER OR PARK BENCHES. DAVE BUT, WHAT GOES IN YOUR BIN, : MATTERS, YOU CAN’T JUST CHUCK ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IN THERE. >> WHEN THINGS THAT AREN’T RECYCLABLE GET PUT IN THE BIN, LIKE PLASTIC BAGS OR FILM PLASTIC, THEY WRAP AROUND THE MACHINERY AND GUM UP THE WORKS. DAVE HANG TAGS WILL BE GOING ON : MORE THAN 200,000 HOMES IN ORANGE COUNTY. THOSE HANG TAGS WILL TELL PEOPLE WHAT THEY SHOULD NOT PUT IN THEIR RECYCLING BIN, BUT THIGS — BUT WILL GIVE YOU OPTIONS ON WHERE THINGS CAN GO IF YOU WANT THEM RECYCLED. AS AN EXAMPLE, THOSE PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS CAN LIKELY GO BAC TO WHERE YOU GOT THEM. A QUICK LIST OF WHAT’S ON THE HANG TAG. NO PLASTIC BAGS, GROCERY, BREAD, PRODUCE, FOOD STORAGE, OR DRY-CLEANING BAGS. NO PLASTIC USED TO WRAP CASES OF WATER OR OTHER DRINKS. NO PACKING MATERIALS. TOO MANY PROHIBITED ITEMS CAN SEND THE ENTIRE TRUCK TO THE LANDFILL, NOT THE RECYCLING PLANT. >> WE WANT TO REUSE THAT MATERIAL, WE DON’T WANT THAT RECYCLING TO GO TO WAS
