He’s known for his passionate views on climate change.

And Hugh Jackman, 50, proved saving the environment begins at home when he was doing the recycling on Friday.

The Greatest Showman star took to Instagram to show himself trying to toss some paper in his recycling bin, only to miss the shot.

Appearing highly energetic in the short clip, the actor can be seen in a lavish looking lounge room before he picks up a scrunched ball of paper.

Hugh misses the first shot, only to then make an exuberant leap into the air like a pro basketballer and land the ball of paper in the bin.

Sounding like his character Logan in the Hollywood blockbuster, Wolverine, Hugh exclaims, ‘E… recycle!’, as he throws the paper into the bin.

The handsome actor makes the shot on the second try, only to then lament his ball throwing skills.

‘Dunk shot needs work,’ he wrote in the caption for the clip.

Hugh is co-founder of free trade business Laughing Man Coffee, which works to alleviate poverty in developing countries.

At last year’s Global Citizen Festival, the Hollywood powerhouse said he has always been passionate about environmental issues.

'Sustainability is something I have been passionate about my whole life,' Hugh has previously said. He is pictured here with wife Deborra-lee Furness in New York in October, 2018

‘Sustainability is something I have been passionate about my whole life,’ he said at the September event.

Hugh previously spoke at the UN Climate Summit in New York as an ambassador for charity, World Vision, back in 2009.

Clearly passionate about the cause, the X-Men star said he didn’t travel on private jets and tired to instill sustainable values to his children.

‘I don’t do private jets,’ he assured the media. ‘I try and do my best and I teach [sustainability] to my kids,’ he begun.

‘Deb [wife Deborra-lee Furness] and I have brought in a company to say what we can do in our home – change light bulbs, etc.

‘Everyone does their best,’ he said.
