Village Installs New Recycling Container At Weckerle Park

LINDENHURST, NY – From the Village of Lindenhurst: The Village of Lindenhurst has recently completed the renovation of the Weckerle Park playground, and as part of the overall park improvements, a new recycling container has been installed. The recycling container was purchased using funds raised by Lindenhurst High School Student, Deanna Tabarus. Deanna held a fundraising event “Keep Lindenhurst Beautiful” – a clean-up day in the Village — with proceeds from registration and t-shirt sales going directly to the purchase of recycling containers as a way to encourage recycling in the Village of Lindenhurst.

Mayor Michael A. Lavorata said, “We are very thankful to Miss Tabarus for her initiative. This new recycling container has different compartments to keep litter and recyclable materials separate – a very important part of the recycling process. I cannot emphasize enough how important recycling is in that it helps us to reduce the use of natural resources.”

Pictured here, dedicating the new recycling container, are Village Trustee Patrick M. Pichichero, Deputy Mayor Maryann Weckerle, Trustee Joan M. Masterson and Mayor Michael A. Lavorata.
