Conservation District Talks About Tire Recycling and CAIP Programs


Christian County Conservation District Administrator Leslie Hacker presented magistrates at the fiscal court meeting Tuesday morning with updates regarding the tire recycling program and the CAIP program.

Hacker gave an update on the Tire Amnesty Program and said she had spoken with Liberty Tire on Monday to get pricing for loads.

She added residents will need to call and make an appointment in order to drop off tires. At this time, Hacker said they do not have a date set for Tire Amnesty Day but she believes it will be held in late October.She said there are a few exclusions.

She added the tire recycling program is for Hopkinsville and Christian County residents only.In addition, Hacker said they are in the process of applying for the $7,500 dead animal grant again.

She also spoke about the County Agriculture Investment Program (CAIP) in which the county was awarded $200,000 from the Governor’s Office of Agriculature Policy. She added they spent approximately $194,000 and were able to reach several small farmers in the county with different ag projects.
