If you are planning to clean your closets out anytime soon, don’t throw away those stained or ripped items just yet.
RAPID CITY, S.D. — If you are planning to clean your closets out anytime soon, don’t throw away those stained or ripped items just yet.
The Cornerstone Women’s and Children’s home is conducting a recycling effort through the Cornerstone Thrift Store. They are looking for old fabric items like bedding, clothes or towels as well as shoes that are not appropriate to donate but can be used to recycle.
They get reimbursed by a recycling company for the goods they gather up. It’s a great way to support the mission and the environment.
Lysa Allison, Cornerstone Rescue Mission Executive Director, says,“Instead of taking it to the landfill, it helps people recycle, which makes them employed and it helps us because through the sale of the recycled material, that helps us fund the Women’s and Children’s Home.”
They are also taking donations of books, stuffed animals and hard plastic toys to be a part of the recycling efforts. In addition to the recycled items, they always take gently used donations to be sold at the Thrift Store.
You can also donate to the Cornerstone Women and Children’s Home directly, they are always in need of cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products, gently used clothing, toys for children and food.
