FIREFIGHTERS BACK AT IT AGAIN, BATTLING THAT TIRE FIRE WHILE DEALING WITH THE SIZZLING HEAT. FIREFIGHTERS CONTINUE TO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR SMOLDERING TIRES. >> WE’RE TRYING TO GET FRONT-END LOADER EQUIPMENT TO MOVE IT AROUND TO WHERE WE COULD GET THE WATER TO GET TO THE SEAT OF THE FIRE. ANGELA: TEMPERATURES REACHED THE HIGH 90’S MAKING FOR GRUELING WORKING CONDITIONS. CHIEF SAYS KEEPING FIREFIGHTERS SAFE IN THE HEAT IS A TOP PRIORITY. >> KEEPS US SAFE FROM THE RADIANT HEAT AND FIRE. ANGELA: SEVERAL MEASURES ARE IN PLACE TO MAKE SURE SAFETY OFFICERS ARE ON SCENE. >> WE HAVE SAFETY OFFICERS LOOKING FOR ANY HAZARDS, THEY’RE LOOKING FOR ANY — ANYBODY THAT LOOKS LIKE THEY MAY BE IN DANGER. HEAT STRESS ON EACH, THEY’RE WATCHING FOR THAT. SO THEY’RE WATCHING FOR MULTIPLE THINGS. ANGELA: AFTER ABOUT 40 MINUTES OF INTENSE WORK, EVERYONE IS PULLED OUT AND SENT TO A DESIGNATED REHAB AREA. >> THEY TAKE OFF ALL THEIR GEAR, THEY GET COOLED DOWN, THEY GET THEIR VITAL SIGNS TAKEN, THEY GET RENOURISHED AND HYDRATED WITH MORE WATER. ANGELA: TWO FIREFIGHTERS WERE TREATED FOR HEAT EXHAUSTION YESTERDAY. AND OFFICIALS PLAN TO KEEP A UNIT HERE OVERNIGHT TO CHECK FOR ANY HOT SP
