LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The recycling center in Lexington anticipates accepting material again Monday after a backlog.
Live Green Lexington posted on Facebook, the center would process material on Saturday to continue work on clearing the backlog.
Multiple mechanical failures at the city’s recycling center caused a backlog of materials. The issues were caused, in part, by wet material and freezing temperatures.
As a result, recyclables picked up on Friday, Jan. 25 will be diverted and sent to the landfill.
Help prevent future diversions by keeping recyclables dry. Keep rain and snow out of recycling carts and dumpsters by closing lids.
