Local kids draw attention to recycling with new calendar

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane County kids are raising awareness about recycling through a new calendar.

More than 230 students in elementary and middle school entered the recent Spokane Recycles Poster Contest. Their work is based on the theme, “The Power of Recycling is…”

The competition is part of America Recycles Day that happened across the country in November.

All 33 grade-level finalists were recognized in November at the Spokane County Solid Waste Advisory Committee. Of those, 17 will appear in the 2019 “Spokane County Recycles” calendar.

A limited number of calendars are available for free from the City of Spokane Solid Waste Disposal Dept. To get one, call 625-6580 or contact Diane Clavel at dclavel@spokanecity.org.
