Hampton is more than 2,800 miles away from the small cove at Derrynane, County Kerry in southwest Ireland, where the piece was found.Details of its journey, including the time spent in the water and the path, remain a mystery, but it possibly rode along the Gulf Stream and North Atlantic currents. It could have floated out during an especially high tide at Hampton Beach in the recent past, but we may never know how or when the piece was lost.Hyland told WMUR the piece has no markings to indicate which home or business it came from.
