Army Corps of Engineers will use to attract fish

When the lights have gone out and the tinsel is stripped, here’s a great way to recycle that once supple, now brittle, Douglas fir:  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Hartwell Lake Project Office will recycle your natural Christmas tree December 26 through January 25.

The corps says the trees will be used as fish attractors in Lake Hartwell.

So, engineers will bundle the trees, add fish-attractor buoys, weigh them down and then plunge them in areas of the lake!

You can drop off your tree at the Twin Lakes or Friendship boat ramps or at Mount Lebanon Elementary School in Pendleton.

For more information, contact the Hartwell Lake Operations Project Manager’s Office at (888) 893-0678.
