Stothert outlines three bids for Omaha recycling processing contract

On Thursday, Mayor Jean Stothert outlined the three bids that have been made for the recycling processing contract. Nebraskaland Recycling, Waste Management and Firstar Fiber submitted bids.Nebraskaland proposed a $2,282,800 10-year bid and a $2,383,000 5-year bid. Waste Management offered a $3,650,000 5-year bid. Firstar bid $3,555,000 on a 10-year deal and $3,800,000 on a 5-year deal. The Public Works Department recommended the 10-year contract with Nebraskaland Recycling. “The company is capable and qualified to perform the work required under this contract. They have demonstrated the ability to take on new contracts and scale their operations to handle the additional work,” Stothert said.The contract will be on the Omaha City Council agenda for first reading Sept. 22.
