TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River artists are invited to compete in a special art competition for Earth Day, where they create art solely from recycled and repurposed materials.
The 2nd annual Recycled Art Work competition, sponsored by the Toms River Green Team and the Toms River Community Arts Project, will be held this weekend.
The theme of this year’s competition is “Play in Toms River.” All pieces must be no larger than 2 cubic feet and must be composed entirely of recycled and repurposed materials. Entries must include a note card with name of artwork, materials utilized, and short description of artwork on the front of the card and artist name, age category, and contact information on the back of the card.
Artists are invited to pick up materials that have been donated by Toms River residents at the Shops at 53 Main Street to use to create their artwork. You can pick-up and sort through the donated materials on Thursday, April 11, and Friday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Artists also may use their own recycled and reclaimed materials.
Completed projects must be dropped off by noon on Sunday, April 14 for judging.
Prizes will be awarded for first place and runner-up in adult individual, children’s and group categories. Interested artists and aspiring artists of all ages can participate. Winners will be selected Sunday at 1 p.m.
