Wexford Co. Using Funds from Sale of Recycling Building for New Central Dispatch Center

The sale of a property in Wexford County will now help fund the county’s new central dispatch center.

Wexford County sold their recycling center property for $130,000.

County commissioners voted Wednesday night to put the money into a fund.

It will help build a new central dispatch center for the county.

In September we told the county was looking for a location, and wanted to move out of the old 911 center because it’s too small, and to cut costs

This gets them closer to that goal.

“It would upgrade where they’re at now they are in just a really small room right now. We looked at moving them out into a larger room, but it cost quite a bit to move all those electrical connections. So before we took that step we thought we would see what it would cost to build a new center,” says Wexford County clerk Elaine Richardson.

The county says the new central dispatch center will go somewhere near the sheriff’s office.
